Al-Hadath, citing a U.S. source, reported that Israel is currently focused on preventing any threat to its territorial depth from Hezbollah. The source added that Israel’s current goal is not to enter into a comprehensive confrontation over Hezbollah’s weapons or the group’s internal role. According to the report, Israel may expand its operations beyond the “yellow line” and even into deeper areas. Another source told Al-Hadath that Washington does not oppose Israel targeting Hezbollah’s military infrastructure and weakening its capabilities, and does not view the recent escalation in Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon negatively. The source also said Israel is acting to bring residents of northern areas back home, and added that Hezbollah, through the use of drones and recent remarks by Naim Qassem, is responsible for the collapse of the de-escalation process.
